Cook-Brewer wedding

DOUGLASSVILLE – Katherina Cook, daughter of William and Juliet Cook, 108 Croton Court, Spring City, became the bride of Clayton Brewer, 105 Unionville Road, Douglassville.

Judge James DeAngelo officiated at the ceremony held at ClayMir Farm, 105 Unionville Road.

The bride is a 2007 graduate of Owen J. Roberts High School and a 2011 graduate of Penn State University.

The bridegroom, son of Frank and Lori Brewer of Douglassville, is a 2007 graduate of Owen J. Roberts High School and a 2011 graduate of Moravian College.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride was attended by her sister, Elissa Cook, maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Miranda Brewer, sister of the bridegroom, Natalie Giuffrida, Stefanie Lerario, Kimberly Becker, Rebekah Cawley and Nancy Stiger. Haley Rose Cook, cousin of the bride, was flower girl.

Michael Hennessy was best man. Ushers were Cole Bevan, cousin of the bridegroom, William Gable, Nicholas Gable, Patrick Stewart, Jeremy Stierly and Sgt. Elam Scott (deployed). Keaton Cook and Wesley Cook, cousins of the bride, were ring bearers.

A reception was held at ClayMir Farm, Douglassville.

He is a 2004 graduate of Spring-Ford Area High School, a 2007 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with bachelor of arts’ degrees in history and political science, and a 2011 graduate of the University of Louisville with a Juris Doctor degree. He is an assistant Warren County attorney/managing attorney,  Child Support Division, with the Warren County Attorney’s Office, Bowling Green, Ky.

A June 27, 2014 wedding is planned in Bowling Green, Ky.

BOYERTOWN – Larisa Kristen Werstler of South Coventry, daughter of Cynthia and Glenn Werstler, 201 Fairview St., became the bride of Robert Charles DiSimone of East Norriton in the Church of the Good Shepherd United Church of Christ, Boyertown.

The Rev. Dennis P. Christie, pastor, and Rev. John P. McNamee, formerly of St. Malachy Roman Catholic Church, North Philadelphia, officiated at the double-ring ceremony.

Organist Matthew Wary and soloist Chrissie Dies provided music.

The bride is a 1999 graduate of Boyertown Area High School and a 2003 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a bachelor of arts degree in English writing. She is a publicity director with Dufour Editions, Eagle.

The bridegroom, son of Marie DiSimone of Audubon and the late Bernardo DiSimone, is a 1989 graduate of Bishop Kenrick High School, a 1993 graduate of Ursinus College with a bachelor of arts degree, and a 2000 graduate of Drexel University with a master of business administration degree and a management information systems degree. He is a systems analyst with Wells Fargo, San Francisco.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride was attended by her sister, Jennifer L. Keyser, matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Nicole Springer, Siobhan O’Donnell and Autumn Kieber-Emmons.

David DeSimone, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. James Werstler, brother of the bride, was an usher.

Paige Keyser and Corey Keyser, niece and nephew of the bride, were guest book registrars.

Flowers were placed on the altar in memory of Bernardo DiSimone, Ugo and Giuseppina DeSimone, Ralph and Helen Hartenstine, Geoffrey Werstler, and Ralph and Katherine Werstler.

After a reception at the William Penn Inn, Gwynedd, the newlyweds left on a wedding trip to Paris, France.

PHILADELPHIA – Danielle Leah Altiere, daughter of Frank and Desiree Altiere of Phoenixville, became the bride of Mark Eric Gillespie of San Diego in Old St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Philadelphia.

The Rev. Ed O’Donnell, pastor, officiated.

Organist Normand Govin, violinist Karen Banos and soloist Jeff Chapman provided music. Acolyte was Francis Altiere, brother of the bride.

The bride is a 2003 graduate of St. Pius X High School and a 2007 graduate of West Chester University with a bachelor of science degree in health science. She is an esthetician and event coordinator with Miller Cosmetic Surgery, La Jolla, Calif.

The bridegroom, son of Kathy Sharp of Sicklerville, N.J. and Mark J. Gillespie of Sewell, N.J., is a 2002 graduate of Gloucester Catholic High School and a 2006 graduate of Arcadia University with a bachelor of science degree in business administration. He is employed with Homeland Security, San Diego.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride was attended by her sister, Elyse Altiere, and Laura Concannon, maids of honor.  Bridesmaids were Kayla Fisher, Michelle Hanusey, Ashleigh LaPorta and Lorrie McKillop, sister of the bridegroom. Flower girls were Ella Denove, cousin of the bride, and Anna Pacewicz, cousin of the bridegroom.

Nicholas Ferrari was best man. Ushers were Matthew Barnabei and Robert Barnabei, stepbrothers of the bridegroom; Anthony Matranga; Adam McKillop, brother-in-law of the bridegroom; Nicholas Ntelekos and Edward Shaw. Ring bearer was Billy Neuman, cousin of the bridegroom.

Gift bearers were Lila Scheer, cousin of the bride, and Lexie Neumann, cousin of the bridegroom. Readers were the Rev. Francis X. Altiere, brother of the bride; Ken Scheer, uncle of the bride; and Trish Fortuna, aunt of the bridegroom.

Flowers were placed on the altar in memory of the deceased members of the Altiere, Gillespie and Sharp families.

The bride’s garter was made from the lace of  her grandmother’s wedding gown.

After a reception at The Ballroom at the Ben, Philadelphia, the newlyweds left on a wedding trip to St. Lucia. They will reside in San Diego.

Miller anniversary

SCHUYLKILL – Dr. and Mrs. Charles F. Miller, 50 Diamond Rock Road, were honored for their 70th wedding anniversary at a celebration hosted by their children at the home of their son, Richard Miller.

The Millers are the parents of two sons, Thomas Miller of Mamaroneck, N.Y. and Richard Miller, husband of Betty, of Phoenixville.

Mrs. Miller is the former Mary Tenerani. She is a homemaker and was the chairman of the Phoenixville Hospital Thrift Shop for many years.

Her husband was a surgeon at Phoenixville Hospital and served as chief of surgery for several years, until his retirement in 1989. 

Charles (“Chuck”) was attending Norwich University and Mary was attending Green Mountain College in Vermont when they were introduced by friends. They were married in Proctor, Vermont on Sept. 2, 1943. After serving in the Army Air Force in World War II, Charles Miller received his medical degree from The University of Vermont in 1950.

During the time of military service and medical training, Dr. and Mrs. Miller lived in many locations throughout the United States and Europe.  They settled in Phoenixville in 1958 after Dr. Miller completed a medical residency at the newly-completed VA Hospital in Philadelphia while also working on weekends in the emergency room at Phoenixville Hospital.  He and his wife Mary love living in Phoenixville.  They enjoy traveling and continue to visit Vermont every summer.
 
The Millers have two granddaughters.

Hillegass anniversary

NORTH PORT, FL. – Mr. and Mrs. Clarence (Babe) Hillegass, formerly of Pottstown, were honored on their 50th wedding anniversary at a dinner with their children and grandson, followed by a trip to Phoenix, Grand Canyon, Utah, Yellowstone and Pennsylvania.

Mr. and Mrs. Hillegass are the parents of a daughter, Rhonda, wife of Garry Wunderlick of North Port, and a son, Lonnie, husband of Deborah Hillegass, of North Port.

Mrs. Joe Ann Hillegass is retired from Pottstown Memorial Medical Center. She is currently employed at Gulf Coast Urgent Care, Venice, Fl.

Her husband is retired and was self-employed as Babe’s Paint and Wallpaper in Pottstown.

They were married on August 30, 1963 at Good Shepherd United Church of Christ, Boyertown, by the Rev. Harper Schneck.

They have one grandson, Cody MacAaron Hillegass.

Her fiancé is the son of Kevin and Patti Grimm, 138 First Ave., Lower Pottsgrove. He is a 2006 graduate of Pottsgrove High School and a 2010 graduate of Elizabethtown College with a bachelor’s degree in music education. He is a K-5 music teacher at Urbana Elementary School, Frederick, Md.

A November 22, 2014 wedding is planned at The Inn at Leola Village, Lancaster.

BECHTELSVILLE - Mr. and Mrs. Laverne Hess, 1687 County Line Road, were honored on their 55th wedding anniversary at a celebration hosted by their children at the Bowers Hotel, Bowers.

Mr. and Mrs. Hess are the parents of two sons, David Hess, husband of Brenda, of Barto; and Mark Hess, husband of Missy, of Boyertown.

Mrs. Hess, the former Arlene Wentzel, is a 1996 retiree of Boyertown Apparel where she was a sewing machine operator.

Her husband is a 2002 retiree of Boyertown Casket Co. where he was a handle installer, and Bally Block where he was a chop saw operator.

They were married on Aug. 9, 1958 at Hill Church in Boyertown by Pastor Lengel.

They have two grandchildren, Joshua Hess and Michele, wife of Joshua Letting.

Special friends in attendance at their celebration were Dwayne and Leann Eidle.

LIMERICK - Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Greenwald of Limerick, were honored for their 50thwedding anniversary at a dinner celebration at The Loft at Limerick Golf Club hosted by their children and their spouses.

The Greenwalds are the parents of two sons, Joseph Greenwald Jr. of Schwenksville, husband of Jenny (Donny), and James Greenwald of Manheim, husband of Denine (Chemnitz); and one daughter, Barbara Anne, wife of Eric Mansfield of Austin, Texas.

Mrs. Greenwald is the former Barbara Mitros. She is retired from Liberty Mutual Insurance Company.

Her husband is retired as president of the Limerick public relations firm he founded in 1991, Greenwald Communications Associates.

They were married on September 7, 1963 at St. Josaphat Roman Catholic Church, Manayunk.

The Greenwalds are avid golfers, and they enjoy traveling.

They have six grandchildren, Joseph III, Benjamin, Robert, Cailey, John and Michael.

VALLEY FORGE - Melissa Henion, daughter of Dorothy Hart, Pine Street, Royersford, became the bride of Ryan Almond at an outdoor ceremony in a wooded area at the top of Valley Forge mountain, a very special spot for the couple.  The bridegroom made a heart out of stones for the couple to stand inside of for their vows.

Carol Poate was the officiant.

The bride is a 2001 graduate of Owen J. Roberts High School. She is an energy technician with PECO.

The bridegroom, son of Donna Hickman of Spring City and the late Donald Hickman, is a 2002 graduate of Owen J. Roberts High School and  the Center for Arts and Technology-Pickering. He is a mechanic with Wolfington Body Co., Exton.

The bride’s flowers were arranged by the mother of the bridegroom.

The bride wore a pearl necklace and pink bracelet which belonged to the mother of the bridegroom.

The newlyweds will reside at 310 Pikeland Ave., Spring City.

Her fiancé is the son of Bill and Cindy Fenstermacher of Pine Grove. He is a 2003 graduate of Pine Grove High School and a 2012 graduate of Central Pennsylvania College with a bachelor’s degree in cyber security. He is a lead IT specialist with the Lebanon Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Lebanon.

The bride is a 2007 graduate of Lehigh Valley Charter High School, a 2011 graduate of DeSales University with a degree in biology, and a 2013 graduate of Bel-Rae Institute with an associate degree in the veterinary technician program. She is a veterinary technician with Alameda East Veterinary Hospital, Denver, Colo.

The bridegroom, son of Ron and Julie Umstead, 1346 North Adams St., Pottstown, is a 2007 graduate of Pottsgrove High School and a 2011 graduate of DeSales University with a degree in chemistry and biochemistry.  He currently attends the University of Denver, Colorado, where he is pursuing his doctorate in organic chemistry.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride was attended by Joanna Whitney, maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Rebecca Roberts, sister of the bride; Danielle Thomas, cousin of the bride; and Carly Umstead, sister of the bridegroom. Alyvia Herman, cousin of the bride, was the flower girl.

Justin Wood and Chris Umstead, brother of the bridegroom,  served as best men. Ushers were Phil Hanichak and Chris Plystak. Roman Herman, cousin of the bride, was ring bearer.

Special flowers were placed on the altar in memory of Harry and Ada Umstead, the bridegroom’s paternal grandparents; Ken Roberts, the bride’s paternal grandfather; and Dr. Roman Herman, the bride’s maternal grandfather.

A reception was held at the Strouds Moor Inn.

The newlyweds will reside in Denver, Colo.

He is a 1998 graduate of Pottstown High School, a 2002 graduate of James Madison University with a bachelor of music degree and a 2006 graduate of the University of Minnesota with a master of music degree. He is the head band director at the Ocean Springs Middle School.

Erb Anniversary

POTTSTOWN – Mr. and Mrs. Claude M. Erb, 620 N. Manatawny St., celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.

The Erbs are the parents of two sons, Claude C. Erb of Pottstown and Donald D. Erb of Boyertown, and a daughter, Donna J. Ziegler of Gilbertsville.

Mrs. Erb, the former Ruth Gresh, retired in 1984 from Boyertown Apparel where she was a packer.

Her husband, a self-employed carpenter, retired in 1994.

They were married on Dec. 24, 1943 by the Rev. Elwood Eckhart at the pastor’s home in Pottstown.

The Erbs have six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

He is a 2004 graduate of Boyertown Area School District, a 2008 graduate of Philadelphia University with a degree in architectural studies, and a 2009 graduate of Philadelphia University with a degree in business. He is a building manager with General Services Administration, New York.

A September 2014 wedding in Connecticut is planned.
