Yates-Camacho engagement

JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The engagement of Melissa Yates and Joseph Camacho, both of Jersey City, N.J., was announced by her parents, Sharon Yates of Audubon, and James Yates of Spring City.

Ms. Yates is a 2004 graduate of Owen J. Roberts High School, a 2007 graduate of  Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Cook Honors College, with a bachelor of science degree in fashion merchandising, and a 2012 graduate of Eastern University School of Leadership and Development with a master’s degree in international development. She is a merchandiser with Toys R Us Corporate, Wayne, N.J., and an adjunct professor in the arts and design department at Montclair State University, Montclair, N.J.

Her fiancé is the son of Lillian Camacho, Colonia, N.J., and Jose Camacho, Howell, N.J. He is a 2001 graduate of Colonia High School and attended the School of Visual Arts, NYC. He is a telecom business manager with the Modern Group LTD, Bristol.

An April 2014 wedding at Grace Church Van Vorst, Jersey City, N.J., is planned.

METAMORA, ILL. – Erin Elizabeth Knapp, daughter of Ron and Darleen Knapp of Bloomington, Ill. became the bride of Tyler Adam Sands at Metamora Fields, Metamora, Ill.

The Rev. Brent Pomeroy of First Christian Church, Bowling Green, Ohio, officiated.

Violinist Kamen  Petkov and soloist Trevor Sands, the bridegroom’s brother, provided music.

The bride is a 2006 graduate of Freeport High School, a 2010 graduate of the University of Illinois with bachelor of science degrees in Spanish and chemistry, and a 2013 graduate of Southern Illinois University with a master of science degree in physician assistant studies. She is a physician assistant with Midwest ENT Consultants.

The bridegroom is the son of Dawne and Eric Von Czoernig of Perkiomenville, and Jeff and Sarah Sands of Lakewood Ranch, Fla. He is a 2008 graduate of Boyertown Area High School, a 2012 graduate of the University of Illinois with a bachelor of arts degree in psychology, and a 2013 graduate of the University of Illinois with a master of science degree in advertising. He is a marketing rotational apprentice with Dotomi Advertising, Chicago.

Given in marriage by her parents, the bride was attended by Niru Pradhan, maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Christina Dracopoulos and Sarah Pauley. Flower girl was Taylor Knapp, the bride’s niece.

Sean Walgrave was best man. Ushers were Mike Roggeman, Jeff Etter and Matt Etter.

Greeter and guest book registrar was Hillary Sands, the bridegroom’s sister.

A reception was held at Metamora Fields.

The newlyweds will reside in Aurora, Ill.

The bride is a 2006 graduate of St. Pius X High School and a 2010 graduate of St. Joseph’s University with a degree in math education. She is a mathematics teacher at Mother Teresa Regional Catholic School, King of Prussia.

The bridegroom, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Kalejta of Boyertown, is a 2002 graduate of Boyerstown Area High School and a 2006 graduate of Elizabethtown College with a degree in English. He is an English teacher at Boyertown Junior High West.

Given in marriage by her parents, the bride was attended by her cousin, Tara Benfield, maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Christine Wiend; Jaclyn Woehnker; Brooke Wolfgang; Caitlin Baldasano, cousin of the bride; Stephanie Kalejta, sister of the bridegroom; and Brigid Benfield, cousin of the bride. Flower girl was Riley Kalejta, cousin of the bridegroom.

Edward Yergey, uncle of the bridegroom, was best man. Ushers were Eric Houck, Matthew Woehnker, Bradley Eddinger, Bryan Torressani, Scott Beard and Tate Yergey, cousin of the bridegroom.

A reception was held at Columbia Station, Phoenixville. The couple will reside in Boyertown.

LANGHORNE – Catherine Anne Ball, daughter of Cynthia and David Ball of Stratham, Ga., became the bride of David Earl Woodley Jr. of Langhorne in Bucks County Community Church, Langhorne.

The Rev. Kenneth Miller, pastor, officiated.

The bride is a graduate of Ball High School Academy, Stratham, Ga., and a 2010 graduate of Bob Jones University with a bachelor of science degree in nursing. She is a registered nurse in the neo-natal unit at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

The bridegroom, son of Cynthia and David Woodley Sr. of Barto, is a graduate of  Boyertown Area High School and a 2009 graduate of Philadelphia Biblical University with a bachelor of science degree in Bible and theology. He is pastor of youth services and community counseling at Bucks County Community Church, Langhorne.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride was attended by Gabrielle Griffin, maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Lauren Ball, Victoria Ball, Megan Ball and Alexandra Ball, sisters of the bride; Dayna Lynn Woodley, sister of the bridegroom; and Rebekak Scadding, cousin of the bride. Flower girl was Karissa Benjamin.

Benjamin Vaders served as best man. Ushers were Douglass Woodley and Daniel Woodley, brothers of the bridegroom; Jesse Moyer, Kevin Focht, Daniel O’Brien; and Michael Ball, brother of the bride. Ring bearer was Elias Miles.

After a reception following the ceremony at the church, the newlyweds left on a honeymoon cruise to the Caribbean Islands. They will reside in Bensalem.

He is a 2006 graduate of Upper Perkiomen High School and a 2010 graduate of Lebanon Valley College with a bachelor’s degree. He is a brewing operations supervisor at Samuel Adams Pennsylvania Brewery, Breinigsville.

He is a 2009 graduate of Cocalico High School and a 2013 graduate of Delaware Valley College with a bachelor of science degree in small animal science and a minor in physics. He is currently pursuing a doctor of veterinary medicine degree at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine.

Spaide anniversary

UPPER POTTSGROVE – Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Spaide celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary with friends and family at a dinner at Vincenzo’s, Douglassville.

The Spaides were married in the Episcopal Church of the Good Samaritan, Paoli, in 1944. After Mr. Spaide came home from serving as a captain in World War II, they resided in Upper Pottsgrove and raised three sons and two daughters.

The Spaides are the parents of Randall, husband of Wendy Spaide of Lansdale; Raynard, husband of Margie Spaide Evans of Georgia; Ritch, husband of Carol Spaide of Cape May Courthouse, N.J.; Renee Spaide of Upper Pottsgrove and Rochelle Hallman of Pottstown.

Mrs. Spaide retired from education after 42 years. She was a kindergarten teacher in the Pottstown School District for the last 23 years.

Her husband retired after 35 years from Firestone Tire and Rubber Co.

He is a 2007 graduate of St. Pius X High School and a 2011 graduate of Cabrini College with a bachelor of science degree in elementary education. He is a third grade teacher at Tanglewood Elementary School in North Carolina.

A summer 2014 wedding is planned at Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Roman Catholic Church, Schwenksville.

Whittaker anniversary

LOWER POTTSGROVE – Dr. and Mrs. Richard P. Whittaker will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary with a 50K bike ride on the Schuylkill River Trail and a party at their home hosted by their friends and family. In lieu of gifts, the Whittakers requested donations be made to the Helen and Robert Whittaker Memorial Park, c/o Chester County Community foundation.

The Whittakers are the parents of two sons, Keith Whittaker of New Canaan, Conn.; Dr. Scott Whittaker of Arlington, Va.; and two daughters, Laura Calizzi of The Woodlands, Texas; and Susan Glynn of Dublin, Ireland.

Mrs. Whittaker, the former Margaret Michael, is a 2002 retiree of Penn State University Berks where she was an assistant professor.

Her husband is an orthopedic surgeon, semi-retired, with Orthopedic Specialists of Pottstown.

They were married on June 27, 1964 in Drexel Hill.

The Whittakers have 11 grandchildren.

SPRING CITY – Ashley Lightcap, daughter of Russell and Mary Ann Lightcap, 639 Willow St., Pottstown, became the bride of Zachary Ambruch of Pottstown at Spring Hollow Golf Club, 3350 Schuylkill Road.

Judge Scott Palladino officiated.

Readings were offered by Emily Sassaman.

A sleeve from the wedding dress of the bride’s grandmother was wrapped around the bride’s flowers. The bride wore her grandmother’s garter and jewelry.

The bride is a 2006 graduate of Pottstown High School, a 2009 graduate of Lock Haven University with a bachelor of science degree in sports administration and a 2011 graduate of Alvernia University with a master of business administration degree. She is a legal assistant to the litigation group at Stevens and Lee, P.C., King of Prussia.

The bridegroom, son of Doug and Anne Ambruch, 1407 Cherry Lane, Pottstown, is a 2006 graduate of Pottstown High School. He is a labor foreman at Nyleve Bridge Corp., Emmaus.

Given in marriage by her parents, the bride was attended by her sister, Jessica Shumway, matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Steph Via, Kirstin Mayberry, Emily Sassaman and Amanda Fenn. Flower girl was Makayla Shumway, the bride’s niece.

Chris Ambruch, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. Ushers were DJ Via, Chris Bonenberger, Andy Long and Tom Watson. Ring bearers were Talon and Silas Via.

After a reception at Spring Hollow Golf Club, the newlyweds left on a wedding trip to Ocho Rios, Jamaica.

Readings were offered by D. Clayr Slotter, stepmother of the bride.

The bride is a 2006 graduate of Boyertown Area High School and a 2010 graduate of Millersville University with a bachelor of science degree in education. She is a 5th grade teacher at Pottstown Middle School.

The bridegroom, son of Samuel F. and Susan B. Lawrence of Pottstown, is a 2006 graduate of Pottstown High School and a 2010 graduate of Haverford College with a bachelor of arts degree. He is a 7th grade teacher at Pottstown Middle School.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride was attended by Michael Barrett, man of honor. Bridesmaids were Casey Gillmer and Jill Lawrence, sister of the bridegroom.

Seth Lawrence, brother of the bridegroom, was best man.

A reception was held at the Barn at Flying Hills.

The couple will reside at 1461 Sunset Drive, Pottstown.

Her fiancé, son of Dee and Bob McClimon of Warwick, is a 2007 graduate of Owen J. Roberts High School, a 2011 graduate of Lehigh University with a degree in psychology and a 2014 graduate of Life University, Marietta, Ga., with a doctor of chiropractic degree.

They are both chiropractors and will be opening their own chiropractic office in the Pottstown tri-county area in 2015.
